I had to go out to the Arsenal last Thursday about 3:45 pm. Approaching the gate there were three cars in front of me and one of them had to stop to allow the guard to look inside. The next car also had to stop. We all know the drill about moving up about 10 feet put the motorcycle in neutral and get out your identification. As I was getting ready to pull up the guard motioned for me to stay put and came walking towards me. Not knowing what he was doing I pulled up to where he was. At that time he told me that he would have come to me. I am sure a puzzled look came across my face. And he said it again. He said that when a motorcycle comes up he goes out to them so they don't have "to drop it in gear" and checks their identification. I told him what a wonderful gesture that was on his part. The moral of this story is that not all of the gate guards are difficult to us motorcyclists. Of course he did make sure that I was in accordance with the regulations and made sure my identification matched me. But the gesture he made will be remembered in the future.
