A big THANK YOU to Greg and Susan for hosting the club picnic this year. We had around thirty five members, family and friends show up for the event and most everybody road their bikes on such a wonderful day. It was very pleasant down by the waters edge and we had plenty of good food for all. Thanks again to all who helped with everything that was done to make this event successful.
I’m sorry for not getting to Athens on time and thanks to you all who waited for me. I had a very nice ride getting there, but I went just a little too far east before heading back west. We had gone about two hundred miles before we got to Athens to find six bikes and ten riders waiting for us. We got on our way and road some of the back roads that Greg had suggested to take to get to his home. We pulled in by 2:30 and found many more bikes parked down in the field waiting for us.
The nominations for officers is done and we have a few new names running for the offices this year. Remember that we will be voting on the new slate of officers at our next club meeting. I hope that you can all come and lend your support to electing the volunteers for the upcoming year.
We have another item that we will need to vote on at our next meeting too. A motion was made and passed at one of our meetings a few months back that would change our application for membership and update the Constitution to match the application. The needed attendance and notice to the membership was not met at the time, so we are working on letting the membership know about the upcoming vote to change the Constitution of the club. The announcement was made at the last meeting, that we would vote on this change at the next club meeting, coming up on October 2nd, and we would send out notification to all the members. This is part of the notification to the members who were not at the last meeting.
The change to the constitution would add the line, under the membership section, to say, “Must own a motorcycle or be the spouse of a member, to become a member of the club.” We will take a vote on this change at the next meeting and will need a quorum that will consist of 35% of the active membership, plus three officers, to pass this change to the constitution. Remember that a motion was made and passed at one of our club meeting to make this change to the application and to the clubs constitution. This is just the next step in this course of action.
The next event to talk about is the Fall trip to Cookeville TN, on the weekend of October 3rd, 4th, & 5th. There is a sign up list and more information about the hotel and some of the riding that we may do for the weekend on the club website. We have some members working out additional rides and events on Saturday. I have been working on the roads that we might travel along the way there, Saturdays ride to the Devils Triangle and the ride back home on Sunday. I’m thinking about heading out from Mullins on Friday morning at 9:00 AM and travel approximately 230 to 250 miles before arriving at the Day’s Inn.
Another event that will be here, before we know it, is the Blahs Party on January 10th at the same place we have been going to for the past few years and more information will be coming on this event too. So mark your calendars and hope to see you all there.
