To All the Members,
My last note from the office of the President of the Redstone Riders Motorcycle Club. We had a big turn out (app. 46 riders and guest) for our last club meeting, election of officers, and it was good to see so many members turn out for this night. We had some riders that I had not seen in a while and some new possibilities for membership all coming together for a good meeting.
Election of officers ended up with the following new officers for the upcoming year; President – Mike Luna, Vice President – Shirley Granado, Secretary – Beverly Swaim, Treasurer – Tom Small, Safety Officer – John Alderman, Sergeant at Arms – Bruce Heath. The slate of new officers will take over their new positions at our next club meeting. Lets all help support the club and our new officers for the up coming year of events.
The vote on changing the Constitution of the club did not pass, so no change will be made to add the requirement of the ownership of a motorcycle. A motion was made and seconded to remove this same requirement from the club application. This motion was passed, so we will work on getting the club application updated again, with out this requirement on it.
The next morning was the start of the clubs fall trip to Cookeville TN. We had 22 riders sign up ahead of time for this event and we had split up into a few different groups riding for each part of the rides that we did. For the most part we had two main groups each day and this worked out well for most of us. We ended up with 26 riders for the weekend and I think for all of those who made it there we had a good. The weather was great the temperatures could not have been much better. The roads were very good and the fall colors were just starting to show up in the areas that we were in. I look forward to the article that we might see in the club newsletter.
All of the new officers and two of the board members made the trip and I think we had a good chance to talk about where the club goes from here. Mike was taking notes all weekend and talking about some of the directions that he sees the club going in. One of the members that was missed, by all, for the weekend was Pat Schell. Her and Rick were not able to make this trip and many of us wished we could have done something to have helped them join in with this event.
I have not said it enough and I don’t know that I could. I want to Thank Pat Schell for all of her work and dedication to the club over the many years of service that she has put in. She is one of the cornerstones of this club and I want to ask that she be appointed into a position of “Club Historian” if she is up for the task and the new President is willing to offer her such a title. I know that Pat is still a Board Member and will continue to be there for the club. I just want to go on THANKING her for so much time and effort put into this club over the years.
I do wish to thank all of the membership for helping the club and me over the past year, while I was at the President, and I hope that we all can stand behind Mike Luna for his time in this position.
